Dutton Ranch season 1 finale: Was Carter kidnapped?

We certainly came in to the Dutton Ranch season 1 finale on Paramount+ today with the expectation there would be a cliffhanger!
So what did we get here? Well, in some ways it is twofold. First and foremost, we had the apparent death of Rob-Will, seemingly at the hands of Joaquin. Given that we did not actually see who shot him, though, is anything necessarily that cut-and-dry? There is a chance for a mystery still here if the powers-that-be really choose to embrace that.

Beyond just this, though, there is also the extremely perilous situation that is now present for Carter, who was kidnapped in the closing minutes. He had only recently started to rebel against Beth and Rip, but will the aftermath of all of this bring the family closer together? That is possible but in the end, a lot depends on whether or not he survives.
Speaking even more on the subject of the future to TV Insider, here is what star Cole Hauser had to say:
When he gets kidnapped. It’s game on. It’s a good way to open another season of the show, to see them back on offense, and then obviously we’ll have to figure out with [new showrunner Benjamin Cavell] and the writing team the drama of Season 2 and where it goes, but I think everybody knows that it’s game on.
We do tend to imagine that this is one of those situations that will be addressed almost right away in the new season, mostly because it has to! How can you continue along the story in any other form? We are eager to see how this all shakes out and beyond just that, if there are more surprises moving forward.
