Is SWAT new tonight on CBS? Looking ahead to season 2 episode 11
Unfortunately, you are going to have to wait for a little while longer in order to see some of that story told. The show is going to be returning with new episodes on Thursday, January 4 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. The first episode back is entitled “School,” but CBS has been a little bit hesitant so far to release a whole lot of information about what’s coming up. That will probably come by the end of the holiday season.
As per usual, though, this time of the year is a great opportunity to catch up potentially on some new episodes of things if you’re behind … which we do very much recommend given that SWAT at the moment deserves all of the help that it can possibly get. Its ratings are not such at the moment that it removes it from danger and with that in mind, it needs to get a nice boost in the new year.
Luckily, we do think that there is one rather-nice thing that it has going for it at present — the simple fact that episodes that air in the winter often do tend to generate some impressive ratings. We do think that this is something that could very much help SWAT find its footing even more in 2019 and start to push us a little bit more towards another season … though we also more than recognize at the moment that nothing is a guarantee. CBS has some tough decisions to make in the spring, especially when it comes to this show, Criminal Minds, and Madam Secretary. These are the three that we are the most worried about at the moment, with maybe new series God Friended Me and then Magnum PI at some point past that.
What would we do to help SWAT?
If we were a programming head with a lot of resources, the first thing that we would almost-immediately consider is trying to find a way in order to give the series somewhat of a better lead-in. It, unfortunately, really has not had that for most of its run with the ratings for Thursday nights slightly trickling down from one show to the next. Going into the season there may have been a thought that the Murphy Brown revival could have been more of a source of this, but it really has not panned out in the way that many people were either hoping or expecting.
