Last Man Standing season 7 episode 9 video: Preparing the Christmas tree

Last Man Standing season 7 episode 9 is coming onto Fox this Friday and at the center of it seems to be one thing: Christmas tree decorating! It’s a tradition for the Baxter family just like any other, and it definitely does seem like something that Mandy is ready to have a good time taking part in.

In the video below, you can see Mandy and Kyle taking part in the tradition on some level while Vanessa talks about her favorite thing to do this time of year: Drink wine. It’s a simple sneak peek in a whole lot of ways, but one that does also signify still the value in the Baxters sticking to a number of their long-established traditions. It’s clear that the kids are all grown up and in different places now, but they still have a chance to come together at this time of year as a family … while also having a few laughs. There is a little bit of meta-comedy in here as Mandy comments on how tall she is and therefore capable of hanging ornaments up high — this is really only a skill that season 7 Mandy possesses. (We do appreciate the fact that the show is playing into some of the recasting more so than just ignoring it.)

This episode, if you haven’t heard, is also going to be bringing Eve back into the mix — it’s really a chance to enjoy some old-fashioned Last Man Standing nostalgia for those who want to reflect and think about the show’s entire run. Everyone is together and there are probably going to be some things that are familiar for longtime fans. We feel like a Christmas episode is probably something that the writers knew that they were going to do from the moment Fox revived the show, mostly because it’s such a sitcom staple. Maybe it wouldn’t be as imperative in the event that Last Man Standing was on the air last year, but this is basically a Christmas Special that will have to compensate for being off the air last Christmas, too.

Expect some fun, and we certainly won’t be shocked if the show ends up getting its best ratings since the start of the season. After all, there isn’t too much competition from other networks.
