Jersey Shore Family Vacation season 3: Will it happen at MTV?
The first thing that is worth noting here is that MTV is billing tonight’s episode as the season finale — noting that they are not intending, at least for now, for this to be the end of the long-running franchise. If you are holding out hope that there could be a little bit more Jersey Shore in some shape or form down the line, this is another reason to feel good that you will get more. We certainly do understand why MTV would want to have more of the show in the future, largely due to the fact that Family Vacation has produced some rather-fantastic ratings for them throughout its run this year. Sure, it’s not by any means the ratings success that it once was, but at the same, it’s certainly something that MTV likes to have and wouldn’t want to see go anywhere for a while.
The problem when it comes to renewing Jersey Shore Family Vacation for more, however, is a little bit more complicated. It’s largely an issue of the fact that there’s only so much that they can do when certain cast members are not available. Deena and Snooki will likely focus on motherhood for a little while after their pregnancies; meanwhile, The Situation is going to prison and JWoww recently split from her husband Roger. There’s a lot going on for some of these cast members in their personal lives, and that’s without even mentioning all of the craziness that has been happening with Ronnie. Add to this Sammi refusing to come back for these shows and all of a sudden, it seems like Pauly D, Vinny, and maybe Ronnie and JWoww are the four permanent cast members who could actually be available for this. Add to that Angelina and you have five … but is that enough to really carry a season? And as much as we’ve enjoyed this season it’s felt very disjointed since we are often missing cast members from episodes and this show really works best when everyone is together.
Our feeling at the moment is that Jersey Shore Family Vacation should take 2019 off. That way, Deena and Snooki can focus on their new arrivals and Mike can get through a lot of his prison sentence. Come back at some point in 2020 if Deena and Snooki want to and hopefully everything will be a little bit more stable. While we’d like to say that this show could work in some different formats beyond the traditional one, we haven’t really seen a whole lot of evidence that this is actually the case.
