SEAL Team season 2 fall finale review: Is the Andres Doza mission done?

SEAL Team season 2

Tonight, the SEAL Team season 2 fall finale on CBS presented a number of opportunities, with closure being among them. After watching the team spend most of the last few weeks tracking down cartel leader Andres Doza, we finally got to a point at the end of the episode where we could see the culmination of everything. There was a chance to take Doza down, once and for all, and we did certainly wonder whether or not that was actually going to happen. This guy had such control over almost everyone close to him; there were no guarantees of success in the end.

In the end, we do think that this is a bittersweet victory — or, as Mandy said, victory came at a price. They tried everything to ensure that Doza was taken down and while there was a lot of hardship along the way, Doza was dead. There were other casualties, but Jason did his best to remind Mandy at the end of the episode that what they did will save so many more lives in the end. Also, remember here that they did all of this without a whole lot of resources at their disposal or intel. They made the most, ultimately, with whatever resources that they had.

The happiest part of the episode came upon Jason’s arrival back home, as he found a way to completely surprise his kids on the other side of him getting back home. He jumped out from the back seat of the truck and with that, everyone was together and happy … or at least for a brief period of time. At the end of the episode, Jason visited Alana’s grave and told her the truth. He admitted that he had a hard time being home without her around — he was scared, alone, and struggling. He didn’t know what to do with himself moving forward and that’s something that he’s going to have to figure out in the second half of the season. He’s going to need to figure out precisely what his future holds because being on the SEAL Team cannot define the entirety of his life.

Unfortunately, for Clay he didn’t have himself an altogether happy return as he found himself alone, debating as to whether or not he should write to Stella at the end of it. Then, there was a surprise: Sonny and David kissing! It was unexpected in some ways; yet, at the same time, it made a certain amount of sense for where the two characters are at the moment.
