Outlander season 4 episode 7 photos: The beginning of Brianna’s journey

The first couple of photos for this episode (one above, and one below) don’t really reveal too much more beyond what we’ve already scene of Sophie Skelton at the famous stones. This could be showing more of her approaching the stones or the aftermath of her doing so, as she is starting off her journey into the past. Her motivation now is extremely clear — trying to find her parents Jamie and Claire if at all possible. She knows that something is going to happen to the two of them that will lead to their death at Fraser’s Ridge, and she now has to head back to that era and find a way to stop it.
As for how long she really plans on staying in this time period, that’s probably a question that can be answered at some point down the line. Brianna’s thought process is fairly simple at the moment — find Jamie and Claire, inform them of what they’ve learned, and then eventually find her way back. It doesn’t seem like this is a permanent journey for her — she has a life back in the present, and it definitely doesn’t see per her roommate that she thought she would be gone for good.
Meanwhile, this final photo for the episode suggests something a little bit different as Bree is forced into one of her more perilous situations so far in the series — it’s nighttime and clearly, she is just trying to find a way to stay warm and alive. While eventually she may be able to find some people who can be a valuable asset to her, in the beginning her time in the past could be rather harrowing. It’s rather hard to call up ancestors, after all, and tell that you are on your way! (Unfortunately, Bree being out at night is not going to be the end of the road when it comes to her struggles in season 4 — there are others that are coming, and it could lead to some of the more painful moments that we have a chance to see during this episode as a whole.)
Rest assured, Roger is going to have a reaction of his own towards Bree heading back into the past, and that’s something we hope to tease more in some other photo preview pieces coming up.
