The Voice: Adam Levine, Reagan Strange make amends with DeAndre Nico

Reagan Strange

Tonight on The Voicewe had a chance to see a little bit of fallout from the Reagan Strange – Adam Levine situation last week. Did it seem like Adam threw DeAndre Nico under the bus to save her? A little bit, but apparently, everything is A-Okay between everyone now.

During the montage before Reagan’s performance, Adam claimed that he and DeAndre have spoken following the controversial results show — and he said that the two of them are good in the aftermath of all of it. DeAndre also gave Reagan a video call to make sure she knew that everything was good between them. This is a super-classy thing for him to do, though we’re not altogether sure that anything has actually changed when it comes to the public’s sentiment towards this situation. We do still think viewers are angry at Adam, just as we also think that Reagan, regrettably, is going to get the brunt of it.

We do think that Reagan will ultimately get a lot of the support this week from her diehard fans and that’s going to make things super-interesting — she gave a really good performance tonight and that, plus an energized base, may be enough to get her into the finale. We’re not sure if anything is going to overshadow some of the recent drama on the series, but we certainly do understand the desire to at least try to move past it. After all, this really doesn’t feel like the sort of thing that you want to actually well on for all that long since it’s going to impact some of your future performances.

The long-term impact for Adam

One of the major things that we wonder here is whether or not we’re going to end up seeing contestants in the future steer clear of working with him because of what happened to DeAndre. Maybe it’ll enter the heads of a few people over the next season or two, but that’s about it. What happened stunk royally, especially for DeAndre, but on the other side of this season we’re not altogether sure that this is going to have all that much of an impact. The news cycle really has a tendency to move rather quickly.
