The bad news that we have at the moment is simply that The CW does not appear to be in some sort of super-enormous hurry to bring the Caity Lotz show back on the air in the new year. This is a series that has been put on a long midseason hiatus before, and alas, that is happening here again. Why is that? Blame a schedule shift for it. Because of The CW deciding to air the first season of Roswell, New Mexico following The Flash on Tuesdays, Black Lightning is going to be moving to Monday nights in the new year following Arrow. On the other side of its run seemingly, you will get a chance to see Legends of Tomorrow back with the remainder of its season 4 run.
What this means if you love this series is rather clear — you have to be extremely patient and also extremely supportive. This show is going to need your viewership whenever it does come back, largely because long hiatuses are at times the kiss of death for a number of scripted drama series.
The good news when it comes to Legends of Tomorrow, more so than any other show out there, is that it has an enormous DVR following. It has the biggest live+7 increase percentage-wise out of any show on network TV. This matters considerably, as does the fact that it is streamed frequently via The CW’s various platforms. They have set themselves up really well to succeed with a number of their different shows. Because of that, they may be able to sustain themselves on the air a little bit longer than they would have been able to otherwise.
Alas, we don’t expect too much news on the future of Legends of Tomorrow, beyond a postmortem interview here and there for the midseason finale, until at some point around February or so.. There is really no immediate need for the powers that be at the network to try and hurry anything along … even though we’d really like for them to just because several months is a long time in order to wait.
