Arrow season 7 episode 10 return date hopes for CW series

Arrow

Following tonight’s midseason finale, when is the Arrow season 7 episode 10 return date going to be on The CW? We’ve got some early speculation on that within!

Obviously, tonight’s Elseworlds crossover marks the final episode of the season, though really you could argue that last week’s new episode was the proper end to this season proper, given the fact that the crossover is really very much its own thing and there is only so much of certain characters you end up seeing.

Luckily, odds are that the folks behind the scenes at the CW aren’t going to make you wait too long in order to see Stephen Amell and the rest of the cast come back. Per the Futon Critic, all signs point towards Arrow coming back on the air at the moment on Monday, January 21 — that means that you will be waiting more than a month, but that is more or less par for the course when you think about midseason hiatuses for shows in the Arrowverse.

Why so long? There are two different reasons for it:

1. Production needs – There are only so many episodes that can be filmed, edited, and put together within a given period of time. Because of this, a show like Arrow does need to take breaks so that the folks behind the scenes can keep up with how the episodes are airing. It takes longer than a week, after all, in order to get a new episode together. If they wanted to just air a new installment every week, production would either have to start significantly earlier or the air date would have to be considerably later.

2. The CW’s desire to air things in blocks – Sure, Arrow could change to an airing structure that basically gave you a repeat and a new episode on alternating weeks, but who would want that? Wouldn’t that be hard to keep track of? In giving you batches of new episodes they are a little bit easier to promote, and it also just makes sense to do it this way for these particular shows since all of them are so streamlined in so many ways.

As for what we’re hoping to see on the second half of Arrow this season, a connecting of all of the various timelines would be appreciated on some level. Basically, now that we know as much as we do in regards to the future, it does make a certain degree of sense that we continue to explore this on some level.
