Elseworlds part 2 preview: Prepare for Gotham City + Batwoman!
In the preview (see below) for tomorrow night’s new episode, you get a small sense as to what the Arrowverse version of Gotham City is like — it’s a different version from what you’ve seen over at Gotham on Fox, and in this particular world, the name Batman is mostly an urban legend. Nobody actually knows whether or not the character actually existed.
Ultimately, it’s Batwoman who will be important to this story as some of our heroes travel to Gotham in hopes of tracking down John Deegan. This character is the mad scientist-of-sorts who basically has the whole world in his hands at the moment thanks to The Monitor. The endgame here is still not entirely clear, but we feel like at present, Barry and Oliver really don’t have a lot of time in order to really focus on that. Instead, what matters more than anything else is that they can just move one step closer to getting answers. Batwoman may be able to lend a helping hand here, at least in that she knows this city well and can help to show some of these characters the ropes.
Below, CarterMatt offers up the Elseworlds episode 2 synopsis with some more information all about what you expect to see — this is technically going to be billed as an episode of Arrow, so be prepared for it to be tonally more similar to it than any other show in the DC universe:
THE ELSEWORLDS CROSSOVER CONTINUES IN GOTHAM CITY WITH BATWOMAN (RUBY ROSE) – With Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry (guest star Grant Gustin) still stuck in the other’s bodies, the two get a lead on John Deegan (guest star Jeremy Davies) and head to Gotham City with Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) to figure out why their reality has changed. While there, they meet the mysterious Kate Kane (guest star Ruby Rose) who provides them with information that leads the group to Arkham Asylum. James Bamford directed the episode with teleplay by Marc Guggenheim and story by Caroline Dries (#709). Original airdate 12/10/2018.
While Part 2 of Elseworlds is going to be very much important because of the opportunity that it provides to find Deegan, Batwoman’s presence here is very important to the long-term future of the Arrowverse. The CW is developing a new series featuring Rose’s character, one being executive-produced by The Vampire Diaries alum Caroline Dries. This series could be a part of the 2018-19 season and with that, the writers are going to need to set up an awesome stage for it here.
