Given that the appearances from Fiona Dourif on the series have been relatively few in the grand scheme of things, it was hard to know for sure just how much more of this particular character we would get a chance to see. With that being said, though, we are eager that she is still around. Liz Keen needed someone to continue to work with after learning that the Reddington walking around in present-day is a fraud. She wants to figure out what happened to the real one — her actual father — and also presumably along the way why this man has been living a lie for so many years. Of course, in doing this investigation she’s going to have to be extremely hush-hush because if just even a whisper comes out, it could lead to shockwaves and all sorts of trouble for her.

Below, CarterMatt offers the full The Blacklist season 6 episode 1 synopsis with some more news as to what’s coming up:

Red (James Spader) presents the Task Force with a Blacklist case searching for a plastic surgeon who creates new identities for wanted criminals. Liz (Megan Boone) and her sister, Jennifer, (guest star Fiona Dourif) secretly investigate the events that took place the night the real Raymond Reddington died. Kenneth Tigar and Christopher Lambert also guest star.

This episode is entitled “Dr. Hans Koehler,” and judging from the synopsis this is likely the name of the Blacklister the Task Force will be hunting down in the premiere. We do think that it is useful that this series does continue to put some of its focus on taking on these Blacklister-of-the-week cases, mostly because it does constitute a certain amount of the series’ overall DNA. This is the sort of show that this is, and we think that it helps to also establish a cover for Liz so that she can continue to do some of her behind-the-scenes work with Jennifer and potentially others she decides to recruit. She just needs to remember that “Reddington” is the master of manipulation and finding out information. One wrong move could expose her entire plan and make it almost impossible for her to continue her investigation in earnest.
