Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4 episode 9 return date, new promo
Let’s kick things off in this article with this: We’re certainly aware that there are going to be some people rather-bummed out there that tonight marked the midseason finale. Why not give us more installments throughout the month? Well, we would’ve preferred that to a certain extent, but at least we know that there are some more great episodes coming throughout the final season.
So when will episodes come back on the air? Think in terms of Friday, January 11. There will be some more installments after that point, and we certainly do wonder how the new version of Greg is going to play into that. Skylar Astin is now playing the part, and in speaking about the recasting further via TVLine, showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna had the following to say:
…We didn’t want to do it just to recast. We felt like we had an opportunity to do something different, and do it the way that works for our show. So the idea is that it’s a first-person show: It’s all very much filtered through her perception. So she perceives him as different — first of all, because when you see an ex you haven’t seen for two years, they invariably look and feel very different, but also because he’s changed a lot, and he’s evolved a lot, and he is a different sort of person, in a way. Then what you find out at the end of the episode is that they’ve both changed, and that’s why he seems so different to her. It’s as much the fact that she’s changed as the fact that he’s changed.
The producers are seemingly embracing the idea to do some really interesting relationship-based stuff, and that makes sense given that it’s not like there is all that much time left in order to do it! We’re talking about a series here that it is in the midst of its final season and because of this, there’s even more of a need for the producers to try and put all of the cards out there on the table. They need to figure out a way to make sure that they can tell just about every story that they want in a limited period of time, while still offering up a nice emotional zenith for Rebecca and her journey at the very end of it. Fingers crossed that there is still a way for that to happen.
