NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 10 video: Who’s behind the mask?

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere

Going into next week’s NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 10, there is clearly quite a bit to wonder and worry about. It’s not often that Pride finds himself kidnapped, let alone with some other people he cares about in mortal danger.

The preview below gives you a small sense of what’s coming on this pivotal hour, mostly notably some mysterious figure in a mask grabbing Pride and then presumably forcing him to deal with an unspeakable crisis. He doesn’t fully understand who his captor is or what’s going on, but we can tell you based on the CBS synopsis out there that both his father Cassius and also Loretta Wade are two of the people who are in danger unless Dwayne does precisely what his captors want him to do.

This episode seems to be a culmination of almost everything that we’ve had a chance to see so far and we don’t think that the title here of “Tick Tock” is any coincidence. These are words that the Angel of Death spoke to Pride at the end of the 100th episode when it comes to his longevity, and for most of this season he’s been battling this inner struggle when it comes to his mortality and his future. It’s something that we do think that he will continue to struggle with on some level as this series moves along, unless of course he does find a way to get some closure. (As we’ve talked about the in the past, we don’t quite think of the Angel of Death as someone whose presence is to be taken literally. NCIS: New Orleans is not a supernatural show; instead, we’ve always thought of this as an opportunity for the series to simply explore Pride’s psyche and the Angel is a manifestation of his fears and his inner pain.)

No matter what happens within this episode, it does certainly feel as though “Tick Tock” is the perfect way to end the first half of the season. We do especially like how this season is taking some risks and telling some stories that are a little more long-term and are not just of the case-of-the-week variety. It helps it to stand out further from some of the other shows that are out there within the greater NCIS franchise.
