All American episode 8 (fall finale) preview: The homecoming game

All American season 1

All American episode 8 is coming to The CW in one week’s time, and on the surface, all signs suggest that this is going to be a big episode. There aren’t exactly many games that are bigger for high school players than the homecoming one. For starters, there’s a dance around it that causes all sorts of relationship tension. Then, you have to figure out a way in which to rally your team for a football game in front of past alumni who have super-high expectations and plenty of pride.

Basically, this is the sort of event where really combustible things can happen — and it’s also a time in which certain characters may start to feel a little bit nostalgic. There’s a lot that will transpire here and it is certainly possible there could be a cliffhanger on the other side of it.

Below, CarterMatt does have the full All American episode 8 synopsis, which we like to think does offer a little bit more information and scoop as to what is coming up:

FINDING YOUR PLACE – Beverly has their big Homecoming game and the pressure is on. Post-dance, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) is feeling the weight of the effects of his arrival at Beverly… as well as his departure from Crenshaw… and tries to set things right. Meanwhile, Billy (Taye Diggs) tries to bring together his team for a win that will send them to the district play-offs for the first time since he became head coach… But Billy discovers doing what’s right and winning aren’t always the same thing. Bre-Z, Samantha Logan, Michael Evans Behling, Cody Christian, Monet Mazur, Greta Onieogou, Karimah Westbrook and Jalyn Hall also star. The episode was written by April Blair and was directed by Rob Hardy (#108). Original airdate 12/12/2018.

What makes this episode so important?

Perhaps more so than almost any other, this is the episode that could really have a lot of people starting to talk and think about the series in a larger way. We already know that All American is one of the more critically-acclaimed new series of the year, but what it needs to figure out now is how to translate that into more viewership. We want to be confident on the future of the series on the basis of quality, but there is no guarantee at the moment that we’re going to see it back for more. There’s still a little bit of ambiguity there. This is why if you love this show, the best thing that you can do is spread the word in order to ensure that there are other people out there who love it equally as much.
