Riverdale season 3 episode 8 preview: First details on the fall finale!

Riverdale season 3 episode 2

Next week Riverdale season 3 episode 8 is arriving on The CW and it’s easy to say that this is going to be a big one. After all, this is the fall finale! It’s the last installment of the year (until the show returns after the brief hiatus) and this is a chance to see everything hit the fan. That includes Archie being on the run with Jughead and getting to see whether or not Betty can actually find some sort of truth in the midst of her long-running investigation. We imagine that everything is at least going to come to some sort of emotional peak here … at least before the writers pump the brakes a little bit and try to pick up the pieces in the new year.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the Riverdale season 3 episode 8 synopsis offers up some more news as to what’s coming up next:

GINA GERSHON GUEST STARS AS JUGHEAD’S MOTHER GLADYS JONES – On the road and running out of places to stay, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Archie (KJ Apa) head to Toledo to visit Jughead’s mother Gladys (guest star Gina Gershon) and sister Jellybean (guest star Trinity Likins). Back in Riverdale, Betty (Lili Reinhart) inches closer to uncovering the truth about Griffins & Gargoyles, while Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) take on Hiram (Mark Consuelos), Hermoine (Marisol Nichols) and Penelope (guest star Nathalie Boltt) after more students fall victim to seizures. Madchen Amick, Luke Perry, Skeet Ulrich, Casey Cott, Charles Melton and Vanessa Morgan also star. John Kretchmer directed the episode written by James DeWille (#308). Original airdate 12/12/2018.

The question that we do wonder after reading all of this is ultimately rather simple: Is there any way at all that Cheryl and Veronica can actually take on Hiram? Well, they’re certainly underdogs, but we do think that Veronica has a somewhat-inherent advantage because he’s her father. She can probably read/understand Hiram in a way that is different from most other people and with that in mind, we certainly do think that she could find a way to manipulate him that’s different from any other character.

Aside from whatever happens here, it will be somewhat interesting to actually see Archie and Jughead in a new place and explore them within a slightly different community. It’s also interesting to see them in more of an actual, real place in Toledo, given that there is a part of our brain that still in some ways struggles to perceive them as a part of reality. Maybe that’s amplified by the fact that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is technically a part of this world somewhere, even if it does not seem as though producers are super-eager to throw the two series into the same orbit beyond just a cameo or an Easter egg here and there.
