American Gods season 2 premiere date; Narcos: Mexico renewed; Sabrina holiday special trailer
This morning, Starz confirmed that the Ricky Whittle led series is going to return on Sunday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s been a really long time since season 1 came on the air (think almost two years), but this season should be able to continue some of the threads that were left for us in season 1. Expect some new characters, but also Shadow Moon trying to do whatever he can to find a place for himself and for his future. This is a series that often ventures outside the world of the tangible, but does deliver a viewing experience that is visual, thoughtful, and unlike any other.
For some more thoughts on the season 2 story, check out the full logline:
We were forged in God’s image, but the Gods are also made in ours — and in Season Two the battle moves inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow throws in his lot with Wednesday’s attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice.
As for some other news on the day…
Narcos: Mexico renewed – This isn’t going to be much of a shock to anyone, but Netflix has gone ahead and given another season to the newest iteration in their Narcos franchise. While Netflix certainly has done their part to cancel a number of different series over the years (ans especially so in the past few months!), we do at least consider this a sign that the Narcos franchise is certainly alive and well.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale trailer – The upcoming holiday special is arriving on December 14 and based on the trailer below, there’s a heck of a lot to like here. You’re going to have a chance to see action, drama, and of course plenty of the show’s trademark mysticism as you see how Greendale rings in the holidays. This special is coming only a matter of weeks after the first season’s premiere. Beyond just that, this special is airing only a matter of months before the second season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is going to premiere. (Read more about that over here.) Clearly, there is a great deal to celebrate at the moment if you watch Netflix with regularity and are a rather-big fan of this show.
As always, we welcome some of your thoughts on this story now below! We’ll have more soon. (Photo: Starz.)
