Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 2 premiere date confirmed

Apparently, Netflix didn’t want you to have to wait all that long to see Chilling Adventures of Sabrina back on the service. Today, the company announced that the second season, which is being entitled “Part 2” by them, is going to be premiering with new episodes on Friday, April 5 — just six or so months after the first season premiered.

So how is Chilling Adventures of Sabrina able to come back so soon? Well, a big part of this has to do with Netflix giving the show a two-season renewal prior to it even premiering. It was clear from the jump that the streaming service has a good bit of faith in the program and wanted to keep it around as long as possible as a result of that. This was a way to get the series on the streaming service over The CW and in delivering so many episodes so soon, clearly the goal here is to get a lot of people hooked in the early going.

You can see a teaser for some of what’s coming below, including a playful nod to the original Sabrina, the Teenage Witch series. That was of course based on the comics, but Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is more of a darker take inspired more by some recent work featuring this particular character.

Remember that you don’t even have to wait until April to see a new episode of this series, either, as there is going to be another holiday-themed episode that launches a little bit later this month. This is another way to establish this show as a fixture on the service, and while Netflix is still giving people batches of episodes to binge-watch, it’s clear through scaling out some of these episodes that they are also trying to keep people subscribed for many months to come.

Is there a chance for a season 3 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina?

It may be too early to say for sure, especially since we are in this era now where Netflix is canceling shows so much more often than they used to. With all of that being said, though, we do still certainly think that there’s going to be another batch of episodes ordered beyond this ‘Part 2.” There is just so much story to tell in this world, and given this story and its ties to another super-popular show in Riverdale, it’s easy to envision how Chilling Adventures of Sabrina could be a big hit more or less all over the world.

If Netflix wants there to be another short wait between a season 2 and a season 3, we certainly do think that they’ll have to order more episodes soon…
