The Voice: DeAndre Nico speaks out after surprising elimination

The Voice 15

Tuesday night’s new episode of The Voice was certainly different than almost any other episode that we’ve ever seen, but not for reasons that we’d considered to be all that great. After all, DeAndre Nico and Dave Fenley were both eliminated after the voting public elected to save Reagan Strange … even though she was unable to perform the sing-for-your-life performance at the tail end of the episode.

We would imagine that Nico has some frustrations about going home against someone who didn’t even perform; beyond that he may also have frustrations at his own coach in Adam Levine, who stood up for Reagan and, in turn, effectively threw him under the bus. The reaction to Adam (regardless of his intentions) has been pretty severe on social media. We personally still think that it was a calculated move on his part to try to preserve the one person on his team with the best overall chance of winning.

So what did DeAndre have to say about everything that transpired after the fact last night? You can check out much of that via his Instagram below, but by and large he seems to be at peace and not overly upset with anything that happened. Kudos to him for being able to have this sort of perspective so soon after his elimination; it probably helped him knowing that he was in the bottom and in need of the save the week before. It allows you to get a better sense of your own mortality on a show like this and realize that you could be sent home at almost any moment for any particular reason at any time.

Do we think that DeAndre was going to win this season? Not exactly, but we would absolutely understand him being more than a little bit upset in his position.
