NCIS season 16 episode 10 preview: The latest Christmas episode

Next week on CBS, NCIS season 16 episode 10 will be here … and also is going to be the final episode of 2018. The title here is “What Child Is This?”, and that is of course a reference to a very-popular Christmas classic. To go along with that, it’s also going to have a story that very much suits its name.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the full NCIS season 16 episode 10 synopsis with some more insight into what you can expect to see moving forward:

“What Child Is This?” – The team’s holiday plans are put on hold when the murder investigation of a Navy veteran includes the discovery of a newborn baby who has no identification and no apparent ties to a family, on NCIS, Tuesday, Dec. 11 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

There are obviously a number of different goals that you can expect this episode to be taking on at one time. From vantage point, the writers are going to work rather hard here in order to ensure that everything gets wrapped up when it comes to the case … but then there is also the story of the baby. We have a hard time envisioning that a show like NCIS is going to wrap up telling the story of a baby without also giving us some sort of indication as to where this particular story could be going. Don’t you think that there’s going to be an opportunity to find a meaningful message in the search for this baby’s proper home? We certainly do.

As for whether or not there will be a cliffhanger…

We cannot exactly say that we’re counting on all that much here, mostly because of the fact that NCIS has not had a tendency to often do this with their Christmas episodes. These are meant to be more sweet and sentimental, and an opportunity to simply celebrate this time of year. For syndication purposes there really is not all that much value in doing anything otherwise here. They recognize that these are episodes that viewers may go back and watch at some point down the line and with that in mind, they want to ensure that they are as enjoyable as humanly possible.

Following this particular episode, our expectation is that the next part of the NCIS will kick off in January. This is, after all, the trend that has been established with the series over the years.
