Is Madam Secretary new tonight on CBS? What should lie ahead
Now that we’ve set everything up, let’s go ahead and try to answer the question at the heart of this story: Unfortunately, no. There is no new episode of the series coming up tonight, as CBS has an alternate schedule planned out for what is one of the rare times in which they are not delivering more of Tea Leoni and the rest of the cast. The reality here is that there are a limited number of episodes a season for every single scripted show that is out there and with that in mind, networks have to do just about everything that they can in order to make absolutely sure that their shows can stick around until the spring. If they aired a new episode tonight, that’s one less episode that they would have to put on the air a little bit later.
Rest assured that there will be a new episode coming up on CBS tomorrow, and while we’re sure that this episode will feature some sort of international crisis for Elizabeth McCord to resolve, there is admittedly a little bit of something more we’d like to see included. To be specific, it would be great to see the series push a little bit forward towards an update when it comes to Elizabeth’s political career. When are we actually going to get that? This is something that has been in the works since the end of last season, but to date, it’s been a little bit of a slow burn and we get that — it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for the producers to give you a full storyline right now when the 2020 election is still so far.
Yet, can we at least see Elizabeth thinking about what a campaign for herself could look like and some of the key hires she’d want to make? It does feel like we’re at the point in which that could be considered.
As for some sideplots with some other characters, it would be nice to see more of Sara Ramirez in general given that we’ve seen so little of her on the series as of late. Beyond that, we’d also like to revisit something more with Stevie and Dmitri, given that the show clearly is not letting go of that relationship entirely just yet. They clearly still care about each other!
