The X Factor UK winner’s single: Dalton Harris’ ‘The Power of Love’

The first thing that is notable about Dalton’s winner’s single is of course the fact that it is a duet with James Arthur. If you think back to when James was a contestant on this show, you are probably familiar already with the fact that he delivered an outstanding performance to this song — it may actually be his best performance of the entire season. Pairing him with Dalton is an interesting choice given that they have different voices, but there’s no denying that the two have really powerful voices. James won his season, and we certainly do think that Dalton is a worthy candidate to try to win this one. Talent-wise, there’s every reason in the world to believe in him.
“The Power of Love” is a song that has been recorded many times already, and we think that one of the reasons why it’s so special is because it’s got a universality to its lyrics. Everyone can feel something from them!
As for Dalton’s performance with James…
Fantastic. It felt like the producers knew that they had something special here based on where they placed it in the show. What was interesting here is that Arthur actually focused mostly on a verse that he didn’t do on the show the first time around.
Also, we were shocked by how well the two actually sounded together. The harmony was really nice and James proved to be a really generous scene partner. This actually felt just as special as the first “Power of Love” that we heard on the show.
The thing that really sold us was the end of the performance, which is when things really started to intensify and get better and better and better. We didn’t know that these two would make this work but they did … and it was awesome. This was a winning performance and one that fans of Dalton will probably look back at with glee for a rather long time moving forward.
