Grey’s Anatomy season 15 may bring you medicine-free episode

According to a new report coming in via TVLine, an upcoming episode airing in the new year, one directed by Chandra Wilson and one that will air right around the time that Grey’s Anatomy is poised to set the new record as the longest-running medical drama ever. While there are no guarantees as to what the story will be precisely, the site notes that there may not be a single medical case throughout the hour. While we’ve seen many an atypical episode of Grey’s already, medicine is almost always at the center of it in some shape or form. Even when it’s not in one storyline, it often is in another.
So what could the story be? The aforementioned site speculates that this could be an episode all about Jo getting to spend time with her biological parents, but there could be some other interesting ideas here, as well. With Wilson directing and her experience working with James Pickens Jr., we would mind this being an installment that deals a lot with the legal fallout of what happened with Webber’s arrest. Or, you could probably do something extensive regarding Meredith’s personal life, but we’re not sure that Grey’s Anatomy would want this when they could really just set up a long-running arc that focuses a little bit more on it down the road.
Grey’s Anatomy season 15 is going to return with new episodes in 2019 — hopefully, by that time we’re going to have some more opportunities to know precisely what this could be about. Even if we don’t, we’re never going to be angry about this show pushing the envelope and doing experimental things. Given that there are 24 episodes in a given season, that is plenty of time for the writers to offer up all sorts of twists and interesting stories. Even if it doesn’t work, there are still 23 other episodes that are very much worthwhile in their own right.
