Legacies episode 5 video: The mystery of the knife + a druid!

As we get into Legacies episode 5 on The CW Thursday night, there are going to be many questions to wonder. One of the biggest one here is simply this: What’s with the knife? What is its purpose, and how can this end up shaping the world in a larger way? These are some questions that we hope that some of the upcoming episodes resolve.

In the video below, you can hear via the show’s producers a little bit about the knife, but they don’t offer up too many answers regarding A) why it is important or B) the connection that it has to Landon Kirby, who is clearly at the center of a lot of story related to it at present. Nonetheless, it remains very much clear that this episode tonight will introduce another character who could be tied to it in some way: A druid, or a tree-spirit if you prefer to think of them in that way. While it certainly is interesting that we’re getting this many characters consistently from different mystical realms when we never did on either The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, we really don’t mind it. This show is meant, at least so far, to be a little bit lighter and fun. It’s just supposed to be a bit of escapism and capturing a different sort of supernatural world featuring a few characters who are familiar to many people who are out there.

Beyond the druid story, there is one other important one happening at the Salvatore School: Student elections! This marks an opportunity in order for some characters to try and campaign to represent certain groups of supernatural beings. Lizzie is going to get herself all mixed-up in the election, but the bad news for her is that in the process of doing this, she’s going to realize that Penelope may end up standing in her way. This sort of storyline, while not necessarily super-important to the show’s current long-term story, is still important for establishing who these characters are and the world that they live in. Despite all of the craziness they deal with, they are still normal teenagers on some level with the same sort of insecurities and fears that you often see and hear about with kids who don’t have any of these powers. They still hurt and have feelings the same as just about everyone else.
