The Good Doctor season 2 episode 10 preview: A hospital lockdown

Where are things going to go as we start to move forward into The Good Doctor season 2 episode 10? Somehow, we could be gearing up for the biggest crisis that the St. Bonaventure Hospital has seen — and that’s saying something. We’ve seen a number of difficult cases and struggles for some of these doctors throughout the year, but there’s still a sense that this particular staff of doctors is never going to get out of the woods — and we’re not sure that they ever really should.

Dr. Shaun Murphy and Dr. Alex Park treat two patients who collapse at the local airport and whose symptoms point to an infection that may become airborne. The staff races to contain the infection before it spreads to the rest of the patients in the ER, resulting in a hospital quarantine during the holidays.

Have we seen a number of other medical-drama stories about possible airborne diseases that could prove lethal? Sure, but what makes this show different is the level of investment that you have in the characters. You know that they are going to bring a lot to the table here and are going to struggle with a) keeping the patients safe and also b) recognizing that they may not be able to head home for the holidays as they would like to. We like that there is a holiday episode of The Good Doctor happening, but on some level, we do appreciate that this isn’t going to be your standard Christmas installment with chestnuts roasting over an open fire.

Odds are, this episode is going to be the final episode of The Good Doctor before the winter hiatus — with that in mind, especially be prepared for a big cliffhanger that could leave you screaming at the television for many weeks to come. The best thing that a show like this can be doing is keep you guessing in order to convince you to watch in the new year — it means that you are infinitely invested in the story and the characters! Basically, it’s a showrunner’s dream come true from top to bottom.
