For the first time since the premiere, you’re going to have to wait for a little while in order to see precisely what is coming up next. The next new episode, entitled “Winter Garden,” is airing on December 9, and this is an installment that is going to feature an important story revolving around Serbia and Kosovo. It’s been years since these two nations were at the center of public conversation, but this installment should help to bring them back to the forefront — at least when it comes to viewers of this particular show.

“Winter Garden” – Elizabeth and Jay work to keep an historic agreement between Serbia and Kosovo from falling apart, after a mass grave is discovered in Serbia dating back to the Kosovo war. Also, Henry deals with a bizarre encounter with Secretary of Defense Gordon Becker, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Dec. 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The Henry storyline could prove interesting just when it comes to unearthing a surprise conflict, one that he and Elizabeth may not have fully recognized beforehand. These are the sort of issues that do need to be figured out in order for the State Department to run fully — and the same goes for the entirety of the cabinet as a whole. We do imagine that this season is going to have a few more twists and turns to it and we hope that the writers find a way to bring some more in before we get around to the end of the season.
As for what we want to see beyond this episode, can we start with getting some more discussion about Elizabeth’s Presidential love in a public way? We do think that this would be a good opportunity in order to see her start to get the wheels turning, much in the way that a prospective Presidential candidate would be doing in the new year. We already get the sense that there are a few people out there testing the political waters in real life; why not see Elizabeth still trying to do her job, while also figuring out the best way to move forward with her campaign?
