Outlander season 4 episode 5 preview: Is Brianna going back in time?

Outlander

What lies ahead for Outlander season 4 episode 5 on Starz next week? For Brianna, we could be gearing up for her biggest story to date.

New Outlander video! – Check out some of our thoughts all about tonight’s new episode in the new video at the bottom of this article. At the end of tonight’s episode, we learned that she had actually ventured over to Scotland in order to presumably see her mother. Yet, it was not entirely clear just how much information she had about Claire beyond what Roger had told her. Was she aware that Claire and Jamie presumably die in a fire in the 1770’s? That is a question very much up in the air still, as is whether or not Roger will actually have a chance to see her. The preview that aired following tonight’s episode shows Bree approach the oh-so-famous stones, presumably to begin her journey back into the past. We like to think that this moment is coming up on season 4 episode 5 (entitled “Savages”), but we don’t want to confirm anything 100% given that Bree is not even mentioned in the synopsis:

Claire’s medical expertise proves invaluable for a family of German settlers, but she begins to fear for her life when tragedy strikes her patients’ household. Jamie and Young Ian travel to a nearby town to recruit settlers for Fraser’s Ridge, but find their progress hindered by a burgeoning political movement.

Is this movement the beginning of the American Revolution? It is something worth considering given the time period in which the series is set. Claire has warned Jamie already about an impending and world-changing war, making it clear along the way that this is not one that she wants to be a part of. Why be on the losing side of yet another war?

Beyond just worrying about the threat of battle, there are some other struggles that Jamie and Claire must endure, starting with keeping the peace among the other people within the region and also dealing presumably with the arrival of cooler temperatures and other unforeseen threats. It seems as though this is the biggest episode we’ve seen yet for Claire as a doctor, especially since it raises the question as to what happens when things don’t go as expected? If she is somehow accused of making things worse for the aforementioned German settlers, they could try to retaliate. In that sense, it doesn’t quite matter as to whether or not she was well-meaning in her actions. Even though Jamie and Claire are now together and have their home, it has become abundantly clear that they are not going to be escaping more impending threats.
