Let’s go ahead and answer the main question at the heart of this story: There is, alas, no new installment of the NBC show tonight, with the simple reason for this being that it’s the day before Thanksgiving. It makes little sense for the network to air their One Chicago fall finales on a night when they would probably not get all that much in the way of viewership for any of them. These episodes are going to be returning to the air soon enough, but not until we get around to Wednesday, December 5. That’s when these fall finales will air but, on the other side of that, there will be no more episodes until we get around to the new year. It’s a little odd for a fall finale to be airing on a little bit of an island, but that is precisely what we’re going to be seeing.
As you may know already, a huge component to the upcoming fall finale for Chicago PD will be the status of one Antonio Dawson, whose addiction to painkillers could potentially spiral out of control at just about any moment. It is a reason for some serious concern and his actions could end up have an enormous impact on almost everyone else on the team.
Beyond just what’s happening with Antonio, though, we want to give some other scoop in this article on another subject: Burgess, Ruzek, and Hailey Upton. What’s coming up with the three of them? It’s clear at the moment that Ruzek and Upton are together, but they haven’t been altogether interested in clueing everyone else in on that little fact. That could change moving forward this season. While there’s no confirmation that episode 14 will 100% be when Burgess finds out about what her ex is doing with Upton, showrunner Rick Eid tells TVLine that this situation will be a focal point for that episode.
Of course, we don’t necessarily think that everything is going to be resolved in that episode, either — this a show that often takes its time with larger storylines, so why would it choose to resolve everything here, either! (For the record, we certainly feel the same way with the Antonio storyline…)
