The first image that we have for you above features Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and also the return of Kyle Rees as John Quincy Myers! Clearly, he and Young Ian are not leaving the Frasers for too long, and it seems as though they may be bringing some company in the form of some local Native Americans. There’s certainly ambiguity out there as to whether or not these men and women are friend or foe, especially since the promo for this episode suggested that there was an adversarial relationship coming. (Granted, it’s certainly possible that there could be both mixed in throughout the episode.)
If Jamie and Claire do find themselves getting along on some level with the Native Americans, there could be something quite valuable in that — this could serve as an opportunity for the two of them to learn from the people who have been working with this land for generations. It could help them to survive, and ensure that there are no more conflicts down the road.
This second image does hint at a slightly more dangerous conflict coming between the characters and potentially some Native Americans, though it could also be the result of a miscommunication or simply two groups of people not understanding how the other lives just yet. For Young Ian in particular, we have more of a curiosity since we know how much he was interested in the Native American way of life. This is certainly something that Outlander season 4 could opt to explore further, and it would make sense to do so at some point given how important these people are to this land. Plus, it would also help Young Ian find himself further separate from the Frasers if he started to spend more time with them.
While this final image does not give away too much in terms of a spoiler, we do think that it serves as a rather nice reminder that the romance between Jamie and Claire is far from dead. Even though they are far out in the wilderness together, while also dealing with some clearly-stressful situations, they are going to find a way to still express a good bit off passion and love. Outlander will still remain the same series you’ve come to love!
