Is STAR new tonight on Fox? We know that there’s a lot of story left to tell this season when it comes to Carlotta, Star, and many of the other main characters who constitute the ensemble. This show does, after all, have a really great tendency to leave you wanting more at the end of just about every episode!
Unfortunately, you are going to have to wait a little while in order to see the show come back on the air. Think in terms of next week. Given that tonight is the day before Thanksgiving (and with that, not the best episode for programming), Fox is holding off on putting another installment of STAR on the air right now. As we said earlier in writing about Empire, though, we do think that there was a scenario in which we could have had a new episode tonight — in the event the World Series was pushed to seven games. Because that didn’t happen, STAR wasn’t pushed back a week; if it was, odds are we would’ve had an episode tonight so that the fall finale could have still aired on December 7. Fall / midseason finale dates tend to be the ones that networks like to have locked in. They are often chosen for some specific reasons, whether they be for perfect timing or because they’ve got some other programming they want to put on the air a little bit after the fact.
Since we are on the subject of the fall finale, why not go ahead and share a little bit more news about that: Below, the STAR season 3 fall finale synopsis gives you a little bit more of a sense of precisely what is coming up — and some of the surprises that could unravel:
Carlotta does what she can to make the Rhythm and Bells Festival a success. However, challenges arise when Star ends up in a legal bind, Alex makes a major career move, Simone is hiding a secret and Cassie gets out of jail seeking revenge. Meanwhile, Derek and Ruby volunteer at the shelter, where Ruby comes face-to-face with the man who attacked her. Then, tempers flare as Carlotta and Cassie’s father, Calvin (guest star Ben Vereen), shows up unexpectedly in the all-new “Zion” fall finale episode of STAR airing Wednesday, Dec. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LDS-309) (TV-14 D, L, S, V)
Given that STAR is the sort of series that loves to make a name for itself with cliffhangers, we have to imagine that this is going to be the sort of thing that they’re doing with this fall finale, as well. It’s possible that they could do something similar to what they did last year at this time, which was write a major character out of the series entirely.
