The Voice results: Did #VoiceSave help SandyRedd, Tyke James, Lynnea Moorer?

The Voice 15

Going into tonight’s The Voice results show, we had a feeling that there could be a surprise or two. This is the first time all of the contestants are thrown into the same pot together, and we get to see who audiences really are rooting for more so than anyone else!

Beforehand, we said in the video below (if you like this, subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube) that we were a little bit worried about Tyke James and SandyRedd — meanwhile, Chevel Shepherd, Reagan Strange, and Kennedy Holmes were likely going to be safe for a while. Kennedy and Reagan feel like they’re two of the early favorites, but we don’t think that we are so far along in this season just yet that everything is clear in terms of who are the likely contenders and who are likely going to be shut out of the finals.

In this article, we at least hope to make the results a little bit clearer — at least in terms of the person who is receiving the #VoiceSave and who will be heading home at the end.

Who needed the save tonight? – It was between SandyRedd, Tyke, and also Lynnea Moorer, with the latter one making sense given the fact that she was the Comeback artist and viewers didn’t really know her altogether well. She was going to have another opportunity to fight in the sing-off, but this entire thing is inherently a major disadvantage since the majority of show viewers didn’t really have a chance to get to know her for the entirety of the season. There’s simply less familiarity with her and that made it hard to think that she had a chance.

Really, to us it felt like Tyke was the one with the biggest edge just because he’s different from almost everyone else this season — yet, he’s also from Hawaii and most Hawaiian people don’t watch the show until late. (The irony is Tyke sang a song about home — which is really where he shouldn’t want to go after tonight. Irony can be a rather-bad thing.)

Who ended up getting the save? – When the dust settled, that person was … Lynnea! She managed to survive and make it for another week! This is a pleasant surprise, given that we didn’t think that this would happen and that the odds were stacked against her. Yet, sometimes The Voice throws you a curveball and you get a chance to celebrate that.

Overall – Somewhat a predictable first results show of the season, but sometimes predictability can be a good thing when it means that some other good characters are still around for a rather long time.
