In the video at the bottom of this article, you can get a good sense as to what’s coming in “Death Do Us Part” and how everything is coming to a head right around Will and Natalie’s wedding day. For most of the season, we’ve seen Dr. Halstead struggle to keep an enormous secret revolving around his undercover operation with police. Even though this story has stressed him out to the point of him having ulcers, at the same exact time he’s pushing forward with it and not telling her. That’s a little bit frustrating, just because it feels like Natalie is a nuanced enough person to understand why Will is doing this … even if she doesn’t like it. This is certainly better than the alternative situation here, which is Will’s entire relationship blowing up right before vows are spoken.

While this promo does not feature Natalie being told all the pertinent info, you do hear her say (while wearing a wedding dress) that Will has been keeping some sort of secret for quite some time now. Beyond that, at the end of the promo Will has a gun pointed right in his direction. There is clearly quite a bit of drama that these characters are going to have to take on here and, by and large, we imagine that it’s going to be explosive before the end of it. It’s hard to imagine a situation where Will gets married without the whole saga with Ray and PD getting out … and that’s also what we want. If Will does get married, he’s going to have to do so facing the aftermath of some of his decisions.

We are certainly aware here that, for the most part, Dr. Halstead’s intentions are good. He wants to help other people in need! That just doesn’t matter all that much when it comes to a relationship that should be built on trust. This is a situation where you should really tell one another everything no matter what the consequences of said decision are. It’s the only way to push things forward when the dust settles.
