Madam Secretary season 5 episode 8 preview: A crisis in Haiti

Madam Secretary

Typically, there is a way in which elections often go — multiple people run for office, there is an outcome, and then someone steps down from office. Time and time again, that is the way things go in the world.

Yet, every now and then you have a situation where someone isn’t willing to let go of their power and that is precisely what is going to happen moving into Madam Secretary season 5 episode 8, which is going to air on CBS come Sunday, November 25. This is an episode where a leader decides after an election that they don’t want to step down from office and what unfolds after that is a political crisis. It’s easy to see just how this could lead to a civil war in the country of Haiti and with that, Elizabeth needs to find a way to step in and make things better.

Why should America help to resolve an issue that is going on with another country? Well, because the issues of Haiti impact the world stage and beyond that, Elizabeth just wants to stop the potential loss of human life. If there is a war there, it’s pretty inevitable that you are going to see a trail of killings as a result of it.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the full Madam Secretary season 5 episode 8 with some more information as to what’s coming up next:

The Courage to Continue” – When Haiti’s democracy is threatened by a president who refuses to step down after losing the election, Elizabeth tries to solve the problem without resorting to military action. Also, Blake has one week to find a new job before Elizabeth fires him as her assistant, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Nov. 25 (10:30-11:30 PM, ET/10:00-11:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This could be a classic case of an episode having both a super-intense political storyline and then also something a little more lighthearted with Blake. We don’t think we’re going to be seeing this character depart the show so, at least for now, we wouldn’t be altogether worried about that. Blake could just find himself both a different position and title to go along with it.

From a programming standpoint, there is one more thing to point out at the moment — on the other side of this episode, we’re not going to be seeing another new episode until the second week of December. In other words, CBS will be finally taking a week off from their new programming after giving you new episodes consistently for much of the first couple of months of the year. Wasn’t that fun while it lasted? (Rest assured, there are still plenty more coming the rest of the year.)
