What is it this time around? Think in terms of a new manifesto that has surfaced, one that contains a wide array of different demands as to what his children should be contemplating and how they should be acting. This manifesto seems to have a heightened rhetoric against aliens, one that may cause them to be even more violent than before. This may be a direct result of some of Ben Lockwood and Mercy Graves’ previous plans not really working out as anticipated, including the weaponization of Agent Jensen into an alien-killing machine last week. They’ve realized that trying to rid the world of aliens is not going to be so easy. These are more-desperate times and with that, they are clearly pulling out some more-desperate measures that could cause quite a few problems for some of our other favorite characters.

Supergirl actually has her hands full in a number of different fronts in this episode, most notably trying to find a way to identify Agent Liberty — who, ironically, is really right under her nose. Ben Lockwood, who has been around for most of the season and many characters are acutely aware of him, is actually the man behind the mask. Throughout the remainder of this season, we’ll probably build towards some sort of larger showdown here. It’s only a matter of time before these characters learn the truth and, in the aftermath of that, you’ll probably have a chance to see a little more chaos. Supergirl season 4 episode 6 is also going to feature a debate featuring Supergirl and Ben, one that probably will not end in a way that makes everyone happy. Ben has a natural tendency to be able to rile up some of his supporters, after all.

Also, this sneak preview (which you can see below) gives you a reminder that Manchester Black still has a significant role to play this season He’s forged a bit of a bond already with J’onn J’onzz, and maybe this scene represents him starting to make a little bit more of one with Kara. The larger question that comes out of all of this is learning further just where Manchester is going to stand in the larger battle and how active a participant he will truly be. While he definitely feels like an ally at present, this is still a character with a certain element of moral ambiguity to him. The show’s presentation has also been slightly different from the comics, so you probably cannot draw inspiration there.
