Tonight, The X Factor UK results arrived with a simple goal in mind: Trying to deliver a little bit more in the way of drama. Yet, we just weren’t 100% sure if that was really going to be possible, all things considered. It seemed like a sure thing that the first act to be eliminated would be Acacia and Aaliyah, mostly because they’ve been in danger so many times before. (Yet, at least they got to be the act they wanted to be beforehand … right?)

This is where things started to get a little bit weird, as Bella Penfold was the first person who was sent home. We are a bit bummed about this given her potential, but we do think she sort of lost her way the past few weeks with not doing as much in the way of hip-hop in her performances. We don’t think she quite figured out who she was.
With Bella gone, Simon Cowell’s lineup of girls is being slowly chipped away — yet, Louis Tomlinson is still going strong with all of his boys still in the running.
Shan Ako vs. Acacia & Aaliyah
These two were the bottom two this week, setting the stage for what was probably going to be one of the most lop-sided sing-offs of the entire season. The problem is that neither Acacia or Aaliyah have the vocal ability of Shan and they really shouldn’t have tried to even perform “Bang Bang.” It’s way too big of a song for them and this exposed all of their vulnerabilities.
Acacia & Aaliyah are talented for their age and have potential to be very successful artists in a few years; yet, Shan is the better contender now and with that in mind, it just makes sense for her to stay.
Yet … Shan was the person who was sent home after the vote went to deadlock. We’re not sure why Acacia & Aaliyah are being kept around at this point, mostly because you do at times get to a tipping point where voters just start getting frustrated that you are still on the series. At that point, it may be better off for you to go so that these people may become fans of yours away from the show.
We feel for Shan because by no means did she deserve this. Yet, sometimes with this show crazy things happen and viewers either forget about you or take some of your talent for granted. That may be, at least in part, of what happened here. Of course, we blame Ayda in part for this because she’s the one who could have kept the deadlock from happening, but that’s a whole other kettle of fish.
