The Bachelor filming with Colton Underwood is officially complete

Colton Underwood

For everyone wanting to know what’s going on with The Bachelor filming, know this: It’s done. At least for this season, provided of course that Colton Underwood doesn’t pull an Arie and do something insanely dramatic over the next several weeks.

In a new post on Twitter (see below), you can behold one of the first posts from Underwood since returning from filming the show in a wide array of different parts of the world. Filming first began a couple of months ago in the famous Bachelor Mansion, which did for the most part survive the devastating California wildfires over the course of the past couple of weeks.

Colton, entering this season, is in a fairly interesting spot. He wasn’t the consensus choice of many people to be the lead, and with that, he may have to win a number of different people over. The good news for him is that he doesn’t have the same level of dislike that Arie had entering his season — or even really Nick Viall entering his. He will still need to prove himself as both an entertaining presence and also someone capable of making big decisions on this stage. The prevailing question many have wondered is simply this: Is he really ready to take on this role? Story-wise, it’s easy to understand why he was cast: He’s a virgin, he’s a former football player, and he’s gotten a ton of screen time on both this past season of The Bachelor and also Bachelor in Paradise. He is someone viewers are very much familiar with. The issue is that ABC and the show’s producers are casting more in terms of ratings rather than necessarily the person most likely to find lasting love at the end.

Maybe Colton will prove some people wrong and he will find the right person and be one of those few Bachelor relationships that lasts — it does seem as though Arie and Lauren Burnham are already on their way, given that they are planning a wedding and she is also pregnant with their first child together. The only winner of The Bachelor proper to have married the person he initially chose was Sean Lowe — even if Arie and Lauren make it down the aisle, that record will remain intact. It happens a little bit more frequently on the spin-off show than it does with the flagship — maybe there’s some difference in how the men and women choose their prospective partners, or maybe it is just luck. It’s a hard thing to pinpoint.
