Outlander season 4 episode 3 video: Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin look ahead

For this particular story, though, we are putting the focus on Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton, who have quite a role to play this time around. In the video below, you can hear a little bit about what’s been going on for the Roger and Bree characters, including how Bree is moving forward after Claire’s decision to travel back and the affection that she has for Roger. Meanwhile, we learn a little bit from Rankin about how Roger has moved up the career ladder and has a rather fantastic position at the university. He’s made a rather wonderful career for himself, though there are a number of other advantages for this particular profession, as well. Just think in this sense — he has an opportunity here to use his resources in order to further track Jamie and Claire’s whereabouts in history. He has a natural proclivity and curiosity about this, but it is also advantageous to continue to build his relationship with Bree.
Consider this video a nice way to set the table for the story coming up on Sunday night; we think that this may be especially useful for those out there who are not as familiar with the books. For those people, at this point Roger and Bree may be considered mere minor players in this story. When you think about it, they’ve really only appeared in about half a dozen episodes of this series. (The last appearance was in season 3’s “Freedom & Whisky.”) Yet, over season 4 they will have a very enormous role, and their story will get more and more important as time goes along. We’re not just talking about this season, but almost everything else that is coming along down the line.
At some point this season, there is going to be a big change for Roger and Bree and something that pushes Skelton’s character in a completely new direction. We don’t want to say too much here for non-readers, but let’s just say that it involves a revelation from the past that causes her to consider her future in a very new light.
