Outlander season 4 episode 3 photos: Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton featured

We’re back this morning with the second dose of Outlander season 4 episode 3 photos, with the focus this time around being on Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton — and for good reason. This episode is the most important on in quite some time for these characters. It’s the first time they’ve been featured together on the series since “Freedom & Whisky” last year and because of that, this marks an opportunity for non-book-readers to get reacquainted with them.

These two are going to experience a happy reunion during this episode — not only are we going to have to play catch up with them, but they are also going to need to play catch-up with each other! A good bit of time has passed since they last saw each other and much has changed for them since. Brianna’s a different person, for starters, since Claire’s departure. Both of the parents who raised her are gone and she’s never even met her biological father. Roger will need to meet this new version of her, and what better way to do so than at the Scottish festival?

While this is not the meeting place for the two, this festival is going to be an enormous part of this episode and one that could hold some great significance for the two. It’s a chance to touch on their roots, even if the two of them are not necessarily located in Scotland.

The highs

There’s obviously a good bit of chemistry here between the two characters, and understandably so given that they share such a deep bond. That’s a big part of what happens when you go through a unique experience like what the two have gone through. There’s a kinship here, given that the two understand each other fundamentally in a way that nobody else really can. That is always going to give their relationship a natural sense of synergy. They understand each other emotionally, and there is also a certain physical attraction to go along with it.

The lows

While it’s something that can be easily worked through, the two characters really have not had an opportunity to spend all that much time together. With that, they may realize through this episode that there are more differences than either one of them first envisioned. This is an opportunity to see whether or not they are truly compatible; how they handle conflict now will speak a lot for whether or not they can handle it moving into the future.
