Yet, at the same time nobody was just ravaged to the extent that we’re instantly worried about them … the declines are most understandable given that the country-music awards show generated a 2.1 rating. Some of those viewers were probably checking out some other series on other weeks most of the time.
Last night, Chicago PD took one of the biggest dives out of any series, falling to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, Criminal Minds also slipped down to a 0.7 rating. Neither one of these ratings represent some sort of enormous signal-flare for their futures, but they do prove further that we need to be aware of numbers and the impact competition can have on shows.
The one that we are the most worried about moving into next week is Criminal Minds, and that is mostly because of the schedule that is coming around the bend. Next week, the series is airing on the day before Thanksgiving, which routinely is one of the most difficult ratings days of the entire year. It’s hard for any programming to fare well most viewers are preoccupied with making a turkey or partaking in many other classic holiday traditions!
The big ratings winners of the night
In terms of the 18-49 demographic, both Survivor and Empire share a piece of the victory with a 1.4. These two series have devoted audiences and we have to think that they are going to be able to keep moving forward as #1 for most of the season — especially if Survivor continues to deliver great episodes like the one that it had last night.
When it comes to total viewers, meanwhile, that is something that Chicago Med took command of with nearly 7.5 million viewers overall. Is there a series that has been overlooked more on the schedule? We’re not sure that there is. It’s been the One Chicago show that has been thrown around like a hot potato, but the series this week actually managed to defeat NBC’s hot-shot new series New Amsterdam. This is a sign that we could be seeing more Chicago Med for some time moving forward — heck, we think that you’re going to have a chance to see a number of different One Chicago shows on the air for some time moving forward.
