Timeless movie production officially wraps up; what lies ahead now?

In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Arika Lisanne Mittman confirmed that the official production wrap happened on November 12. Other than a few pickups that’ll be filmed later this week, everything is wrapped up insofar as filming. That means that the stories of Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus, and the rest of the Time Team are done — or at least they are done for the time being.
The Timeless movie, if the poster above didn’t give it away, is going to be set around the holidays and will feature Lucy and Wyatt, aided by future versions of themselves presumably, going back in time in order to save Rufus before he dies in the past. That’s an ambitious, time-bending mission, but when the stakes are this high, it’s certainly worth it to take this sort of time-risk like working with your future selves. After all, it’s not like Lucy and Wyatt in the present are oblivious an idea as their future selves working with them!
Over the next month or so the movie will be edited and put together so that it’s perfect for the December 20 premiere date. It’s only a few days before Christmas and that should help to add to the overall holiday spirit. We just hope that, no matter what, the final product here is satisfying and offers up a little bit of future hope for the franchise — whatever that looks like. We know that there are plenty of people out there ready to fight for more; we’ll see what the ratings are for the movie and after that, try to go from there. Given that the movie’s airing at an earlier timeslot than the first two seasons and there’s not a ton of competition out there due to it being so late in the year, we actually do think that there’s a good chance that this could end up being a big hit.
Ultimately, the best indicator of the future of Timeless will come when we actually have a chance to see the movie itself. We’re imagining that it’s going to be extremely emotional, both in terms of the story and also thinking that it could be the end of the road for what’s been an incredibly-fun and inspirational story.
