Criminal Minds season 14 episode 7 video: A look inside ‘Twenty Seven’

Tonight, Criminal Minds season 14 episode 7 is coming up on CBS, and this one has a greater sense of urgency than most. The title here is “Twenty Seven,” and that’s a clear reference to the UnSub’s M.O. this time around. This is someone who is responsible for killing people around the Washington DC area every 27 minutes, which means that the BAU is going to have to act rather quickly in order to figure out what’s going on here and try to stop it.

Before they can actually pinpoint who this killer actually is or where they are going to go next, they have to try and figure out the patterns. That is what the two sneak peeks below for this episode are actually about. In these previews, you can see some of the BAU members teaming up in order to try to identify the UnSub … or at least a motive. What they are able to figure out here is that this is about inequality on some level. After all, a poor victim was disposed of in a rich neighborhood; meanwhile, a wealthier victim was dumped off within a poorer neighborhood. There’s a message here that the UnSub is trying to send — but there’s also another twist here. As the second sneak peek reveals, it seems as though there is more than one person working on this operation. This is something that is being carefully planned out and executed in a way where one person alone wouldn’t be able to do it. That’s bad news for anyone targeted, given that it is so much harder to fight back.

Yet, this may be good news for the BAU, given that it is often significantly easier to go out there and find two or more people than a single one — there’s so much of a bigger target.

Luckily, the BAU is going to have a little bit of help in everything that they do this time around. Prentiss is in particular going to be working with another unit chief named Mendoza in this episode, someone who develops a very good rapport with her as they look for a way to stop these killings. There’s not going to be a whole lot of time to bond in the immediate future, largely because this has to be one of the most focused, sensitive operations that the BAU has taken on so far this season. Every minute can literally determine whether or not someone lives or dies.
