The Flash season 5 episode 5 video: Rag Doll + a Gotham City reference!

After all, this marks one of the best opportunities that we’ve had so far to see the Rag Doll character in the flesh! This character is one of the more terrifying ones visually that the show has come up with, mostly in terms of his ability to shape and morph himself into a wide array of different shapes. Because contortionist Troy James is playing the part, that does give the writers an opportunity to use some of his real-life body contortions in this character to go along with some CGI work.
In the sneak peek below, you can see Rag Doll entering an architect’s office through an air vent, and he does so without even breaking the event down. After this, he seems to destroy the architect’s life’s work and blows up a part of the building in the process. (The Flash rescued him — apparently, this guy was the only person in the building? That’s certainly how we are reading this sneak peek at the moment.)
At the tail end of the preview, you see Rag Doll emerge from the rubble … which seems to suggest that this guy is close to indestructible, at least via traditional means. He almost seems to have some similarities to Elongated Man, except he is using some of his powers for evil more so than good. Maybe this is the first substantial Big Bad that we’ve had for Ralph all season? That’d be a good thing for him to have some given that, at least so far, he really hasn’t had all that much to do of substance beyond just help other people. (Take, for example, assisting Caitlin in the search for her father, or Sherloque with what is going on with Cicada.) We have not actually see all that much for Ralph that is strictly about him, and maybe we won’t in this episode, either. We’re just doing a lot of wishful thinking here knowing the fact that this episode seems to be the perfect way to include him more.
Outside of the Rag Doll story line, there are two other things that we would say to expect here: Something more courtesy of Caitlin’s search, and then also an exploration into whatever was going on with Cicada at the end of this past episode. It seemed as though he was starting to form abilities that may not have been there for him previously, and that could be a problem for all of the meta-humans he eventually targets down the line.
One other thing worth noting
There is a Gotham City reference in this sneak peek! Basically, this is The CW slowly and surely setting the stage for the Elseworlds crossover coming down the line.
