The image above is one of the first looks that The CW has released for this upcoming episode airing later this month, one in which Caitlin is finally going to track down Dr. Thomas Snow from wherever he’s been hiding. He may as well have spent the past few years locked in a block of ice given that he hasn’t been seen or heard from in quite some time. Caitlin’s long presumed that he’s been dead — of course, having a death certificate is a pretty-clear reason to think that he’s gone. With him still out there, however, it does raise a whole number of questions surrounding why he left and precisely what ties he has to Caitlin — including her powers.
Remember, one of the most interesting things to come out of Flashpoint and Caitlin’s Killer Frost-y reveal is that it doesn’t seem like she got her powers via the particle accelerator. There was some other factor that played a role here and it could’ve very well been Thomas Snow’s doing. Our long-prevailing / possibly right-or-wrong theory with this guy is that he experimented on Caitlin way back when and then fled out of shame for what he did. Maybe helping Caitlin re-unlock Killer Frost is a good way to say sorry…? We’re not sure that makes up for pretty much anything, but it’s at least a start.
While this family reunion could be all warm and fuzzy (or at least as much as it can be when you’ve got two people with the last name of Snow), there are some other stories that are heating up, as well. Take, for example, the search for Cicada and what Sherloque Wells is doing in order to find and understand him. No matter how much father/daughter time Caitlin gets here, the Cicada problem isn’t one that will be over quickly. Cicada is not one of those villains who’s going to do something crazy and then vanish for a good month and a half. When your M.O. is trying to rid the world of meta-humans, you gotta keep acting on it! Otherwise, some speedster could very well do the logical thing here and just run away to the other side of the world. In other words, they could pull a Wally West.
