Kidding season 2 premiere date hopes for Jim Carrey, cast
Following tonight’s finale at Showtime, are you curious in learning the Kidding season 2 premiere date? If so, we have some scoop to share with you on that.
Let’s start this article off with a reminder that the network is planning to bring the Jim Carrey series back for another batch of episodes. When you look at the ratings for the first season, they can be a little bit deceiving; this is a show that is averaging only around 250,000 live viewers an episode, and that is a little shocking when you consider that Carrey is an A-list star who has been a part of some of the most successful movies out there.
Now, this is where we remind you of a few different things. For starters, word on the street is that Kidding brought in a good many subscribers to Showtime at the start of the season. That’s what the network was hoping for more so than anything and if they are making money on it, that’s what really matters.
Here are some other things that may be making these ratings look lower than they really are:
Showtime puts the episodes online early – If you can afford a Showtime subscription, odds are that you have a smartphone, an On-Demand service, or some other easy / convenient way to watch the series.
This show is also binge-watching gold – This is a series that is going to build a much larger following over time, and it will probably be during the week with people checking it out on DVR. We’re in an era of television now where there is no urgency to watch anything when it is on anymore, especially comedies. This is a good show, but it is not a water-cooler show where you need to see it right away so you can discussion the theories with people at work the next day.
In a statement announcing the renewal previously, President of Programming, Gary Levine, had the following to say:
“Kidding has established itself as one of the most endearing and inventive shows on television … I feel like I have been watching Mr. Pickles my whole life, and I look forward to being entranced by his unique blend of hilarity and heartbreak in Season 2.”
When will season 2 premiere?
Think most likely at some point in 2019, but that could vary depending on scheduling and any other forces that somehow get in the way of the series coming back. We think that the most important thing is giving the creative team time to make the best story possible, and then also finding the best release date in order to promote it. Also, trying to give the series an even better promotional push. Carrey did some TV appearances, but at the same time it’d be wonderful to see the series as a whole have some more opportunities to shine in print media.
