In the sneak peek below, you get a good briefing as to precisely what’s coming up with this case. A prominent arms dealer named Dotson was killed within a rental home in Malibu. He’s a dangerous dude who hasn’t been tracked down before, mostly because he hasn’t been in the country. Now that he is, though, there are a number of other questions that are surfacing. Take, for example, how someone was able to get to him. If you’re an arms dealer with this sort of power and influence, wouldn’t you almost constantly have a team around you in order to ensure your protection? That feels almost like the first thing that you would do.
Of course, the team is on the case! Deeks and Kensi have already traveled in order to begin the investigation and by the end of the episode, we imagine that this death will start to make sense. On the surface, though, the motive seems to very well be a battle between different arms dealers looking for more prominence and/or bragging rights. Also, if you eliminate the competition, doesn’t that also make you significantly more powerful than you were otherwise? Just a thought.
One more thing that we hope for with this episode
If there was ever a time for CBS to put out a PSA or some sort of charity drive to help people who are suffering amidst the local fires, this is the time. Many of the stories on the show are either filmed near or at least set in some of the communities that are in danger, and we’re pretty sure that many of the cast have been either directly or indirectly impacted by them in some ways already. There are a number of different shows all filmed in Los Angeles / the surrounding area, but this one really highlights neighborhoods and local communities in a way few others do. Let’s hope there’s enough time for the network to get something together.
