Supergirl season 4 episode 5 sneak peek: That’s not Jensen anymore…

Supergirl season 4 episode 3

Tomorrow night, Supergirl season 4 episode 5 is set to feature a very different adversary for the Girl of Steel — someone who used to be a part of the DEO!

In the new sneak peek that we have for you below, you can see some of what we’re talking about here via Agent Jensen, who has been corrupted with a parasite that gives him the ability to apparently take (or at least borrow) powers from whoever he comes across. If he comes into contact with a shapeshifter, for example, that gives him the ability to turn into another person. However, if he comes into contact with Supergirl, that means that he can borrow some of her powers. That’s a problem. It neutralizes any advantage that Kara has and makes it so much harder to take this on.

Of course, this preview also shows some of what humanity is going to do in their quest to actually stop aliens using their own technology — or, at least, parasites. This season is about hate, but it’s also about humans trying to level the so-called playing field. While Lena Luthor doesn’t agree with the treatment of aliens at the hands of Agent Liberty, Mercy Graves, or others, she is very much for humans being able to have access to the same abilities that many aliens do. That sort of thinking could eventually complicate matters this season, but we’re not there right now. Supergirl and company have to keep their eyes on the short-term, and that means finding a way to stop people like Jensen before they cause any more problems.

Elsewhere in this episode…

While it’s not shown off in this sneak peek, this will be one of the season’s most-important episodes for reporter Kara Danvers as she tries to turn to her writing in order to highlight courageous aliens out there doing good in the world. Her intentions here are pure: She wants people to realize that aliens aren’t just out to destroy the world. Unfortunately, what she doesn’t realize in the moment is that these profiles will lead to anti-alien activists saying “hey, let’s go after these people! Why do they get a special profile?” rather than wanting to support them.

Think like this: These people want aliens out of sight and out of mind. Even praising their good deeds is somehow a problem for some people out there.
