Supernatural season 14 episode 6 preview: Jared Padalecki, Felicia Day team up

Don’t we all need a little bit more “Optimism” in our lives at the moment? Clearly, that is what Supernatural season 14 appears to be thinking. This is the title for the upcoming sixth episode of the season that is airing in one week’s time, and while we don’t know just how optimistic this episode will actually be, there are some reasons to be excited for it. Take, for example, the reemergence of Felicia Day as Charlie! Remember when she was gone from the show for many years, and then also precisely how depressing a period of time that was? It’s nice to have her back around in some semi-regular capacity. She first started making appearances again last season, and hopefully, this is a trend that continues (we first discovered her on the web series The Guild which we have watched an unhealthy amount of times because it’s just that good).

So what’s going to bring Charlie back into the fold this time? It seems to be yet another classic Supernatural mystery — with it revolving around Them trying to uncover the truth behind some recent disappearances. She’s going to be working this time with Sam, while Dean seems to be getting roped into an investigation of his own. While these storylines may appear to be separate on the surface, Supernatural has a habit of eventually throwing everyone in the witch’s brew and seeing what happens after that. It’s a big part of the fun of a show like Supernatural, where almost every single character, at one point or another, finds themselves steeped in chaos and must figure out the best way in which to get to the other side of it … with a lot of humor and snark, of course.

Is season 14 eventually going to shift its way back to a larger narrative, especially after the Michael struggle at the start of the season? You have to think that it will in due time. Yet, for now, we are very much happy to be spending some time in some other territory that is more indicative of the series’ long legacy.
