Riverdale season 3 episode 5 preview: Is Veronica breaking out Archie?
Yet, actually caring for Archie and successfully breaking him out of his detention are two very different things. Unless she’s going to find a way to bring in Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell to help with the prison break (hey, they do have CW connections), how is that going to happen? How’s it going to work? Part of the fun of this episode could be figuring that out.
Of course, there will also be a little bit of fun elsewhere (Riverdale still finds a way for some of that outside of this kind of depressing Archie storyline) to go along with some peril. For example, the Betty / Jughead investigation plot. For most of the season, it’s felt like those two have had a really good job teaming up together in hopes of getting every clue possible on Griffins & Gargoyles. Yet, there’s a difference between what they were doing and the sort of trouble Jughead’s got himself into now. We’re at a point coming up here where he’s gonna need some help to get out of a mess. It’s a pretty good thing that he’s got someone like Betty who cares about him as much as she does.

Is now the right time to ask when Archie’s going to get out of juvie, even if Veronica’s not responsible for it? Feels that way. It feels like the writers have made their point and “shaken up the show enough” and we need Archie back with the rest of the cast since this is one of the reasons this show works so well – the dynamics and chemistry between the four leads. It’s time to get back more to typical hijinks and getting some of these characters in the same spot again. Riverdale is at its best when you have the group together working towards some sort of larger mystery.
