American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 9 video: Destruction of the earth

As we move into American Horror Story: Apocalypse episode 9, there is one horrifying thing to think about. Somehow, there are only two more episodes left to go in this season. How in the world are the producers going to be able to wrap most of this up? There is a significant amount of story left to tell and beyond that, only so much more time in which to tell it.

If this season is only going to tell two more stories, though, it appears as though these stories are going to be as chaotic as humanly possible. They are going to begin with the Michael character preparing for what seems to be an onslaught of violence upon the world — basically, giving the subtitle for this season a whole new meaning. There will be fire, there will be chaos, and there’s also going to be death. Beyond all of this, there will be some more cameos featuring people from past seasons. (Side note: Why did we not get very many of them during this past episode? We know that it was heavily focused on Michael and few others, but still.) This episode seems to also have Cordelia convulsing and some other images that you will not get out of your head at any point in the near future.

What is so interesting about this season is that as horrifying as it has been, we wouldn’t say that it has moved into actually-scary territory all that much. American Horror Story as a whole has actually become a little bit more of just a macabre showcase as opposed to something meant to give you many nightmares. It’s also still got a lot of humor and comedy wedged into most of its scenes. This is a part of the show’s tone, but still, we hope that in the midst of all the craziness Apocalypse establishes a sense of narrative direction and force in these final episodes. We’d like to see a story that sticks with you to go along with all of the performances and the imagery.
