Outlander season 4 episode 2 promo: What lies ahead at River Run

The most important thing about this particular promo is the location of River Run, which is where Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta lives. The establishment is a plantation, and this is where Jocasta immediately draws Claire’s ire: She has a number of slaves. Claire objects strongly to use the slavery, knowing what lies ahead in history. Even if she didn’t, we still have a hard time imagining that this is something that Claire as a character would ever sign off on or endorse.
Claire is always one to speak her mind, so of course, she is going to do so in regards to the slavery situation. Meanwhile, Jamie is going to do his best in order to stand up for Claire. The two get themselves immersed in what appears to be a local problem, and in the aftermath of this things are going to get a little bit heated and chaotic. This is a season that features the Frasers working as more of a unit than ever before, but just because they are a team doesn’t mean that other people are signing up to join them. They’re going to have many obstacles standing in their way, ones that of course begin with what happened at the end of this past episode with Bonnet. He is still out there, and the decision that they made in regards to that character will come back to haunt them again in the future.
As for what lies ahead elsewhere, we’re hoping to see even more of the evolution of Young Ian; beyond that, wouldn’t it be nice to also get some of Roger and Brianna back on the show? Their story is coming, though we understand Outlander feeling the need to focus, at least in the premiere, more on what’s going on with Jamie and Claire.
