Ratings: Last Man Standing slips, still wins; MacGyver, Hawaii Five-0 recover
This time around, the Tim Allen series came back, and it does certainly feel like there is quite a bit of stuff to celebrate. Friday night’s “One Flew Over the Empty Nest” did slide to a 1.1 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic, and while it is down versus the first few episodes of the season, Fox isn’t going to complain about losing a few viewers here. After all, they did still have the most-popular show of the night in the demo and one that performs well both in DVR numbers and also potentially repeats, when we get around to the point in which they are them.
We discuss the odds of a season 8 for Last Man Standing in the video below (if you enjoy it, subscribe for more updates and take a look at our full Last Man Standing playlist) — as a whole, we do think that there is a lot to be hopeful about right now so long as everyone wants to keep going.
As for elsewhere, Friday was a night of recovery for CBS as MacGyver (0.8), Hawaii Five-0 (0.9), and Blue Bloods (0.8) all posted big improvements versus their prior episodes, when they were up against baseball. We’ve said this before and we’ll continue to say it — the network has to love the performance of this lineup. It’s consistently strong, especially in total viewers, and it doesn’t really matter what you throw against it.
Over on NBC, Blindspot and Midnight, Texas stayed reasonably steady with a 0.4 rating — which, regrettably, isn’t good enough for us to feel all that optimistic about either show in the end.
